Your care will begin with an evaluation during which you will share your concerns and goals and describe the symptoms and difficulties you are experiencing. An examination will follow this, which may include assessment of your range of motion, strength, posture, walking pattern, balance, flexibility, and the mobility of your joints and soft tissues. Next, a treatment plan, personalized to your needs, will be implemented including hands on treatment and exercises to restore the health and function of your movement system. An integrated whole person approach is utilized to look beyond the area of pain and address the dysfunctions that are causing the symptoms.
Functional Manual Therapy is a comprehensive approach to examining and treating the soft tissues and joints of the body, along with assessment of posture and movement, and neuromuscular reeducation of functional movement patterns to optimize the body’s structure and function.
Myofascial Release is a gentle, hands-on treatment focusing on improving the health and mobility of the fascial system of the body, which is like an uninterrupted spider web from your head to your toes. Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds all the other structures in the body. Inflammation (due to trauma, poor postures, repetitive motions, infection, stress, environmental toxins, diet, etc.) causes fascia to become restricted (meaning a change from elastic and hydrated to rigid and more solidified). The JFB method of Myofascial Release works to restore the elasticity and health of the fascial system.
Visceral Manipulation is a gentle manual therapy that facilitates better communication within the body by treating restrictions of the viscera (internal organs) to restore normal movement. These visceral restrictions limit the movement of our organs. Organ movement is vital for our health and wellbeing and is needed for body movements like twisting and bending and also for normal functioning of our organs (digesting, eliminating, breathing, etc).
CranioSacral Therapy uses light touch to treat the connective tissues of our central nervous system and to balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems of the autonomic nervous system resulting in improved function of the craniosacral system, enhanced relaxation, and better health of the entire body.
